RouterOS sizing

MikroTik throughput and BGP memory sizer

Pick a board and a forwarding path to see the packet-rate ceiling it can be expected to reach, whether Layer 2 traffic stays on the switch chip, and how much memory a full BGP table would need on that hardware.

Packet rates are MikroTik's published fast-path routing results at 1518-byte frames, taken from each board's test-results table. Smaller frames cut the Mbps figure proportionally at the same packet rate, so treat the packet column as the real capacity measure. The path multipliers are ratios from MikroTik's own published rows for filter rules and simple queues (RB5009 with 25 IP filter rules, 771.2 of 811.2 kpps; hEX S with 25 simple queues, 114.5 of 148.4 kpps). The BGP tile is the one number here that is not MikroTik's: it is this site's own planning assumption of roughly 2 GB of RAM per full IPv4 feed. MikroTik publishes no per-route memory figure for RouterOS v7, so treat that tile as a sizing guardrail and measure the real footprint on your own hardware.
